Universal Taxi Assist
Preventing Runway Incursions
Universal Avionics' Taxi Assist uses advanced AI and Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) to listen to ATC communications via Bluetooth-connected devices, transcribing instructions in real-time and correlating them with airport databases. The system then displays cleared taxi routes on an iPad app or multifunction display (MFD), highlighting potential conflicts, hold-short lines, and deviations with visual and audible alerts.
Overview
Universal Taxi Assist connects to aircraft radios and pilot readback for the best speech input available. It is trained with aviation keywords and flight workflows, using location data to determine valid pathways based on the airport’s custom configuration, along with flight phase details to recognize the next course of action. This is all sent to Universal’s flight deck and head-up displays for intuitive operations.
