ClearVision improves visibility in complex environments, enhancing safety and efficiency for supersonic flight operations.
Tucson, Arizona – July 23, 2024 – Boom Supersonic, the company building the world’s fastest airliner, has chosen Universal Avionics’ (UA) ClearVision Enhanced Flight Vision System (EFVS) for its Overture aircraft. This partnership between the two companies equips the maturing supersonic aircraft with the a state-of-the-art vision system, combining the latest head-wearable display and augmented reality technology.
The system installed on Overture will include Universal’s second-generation head-wearable device, SkyLens II, along with the EVS-5000 multispectral camera, connected switches and computer units, and the Aperture visual management system. By combining multiple cameras and sensors, the system uses augmented reality to expand the pilot’s acuity of the real-world environment, giving them enhanced situational awareness and passenger safety.
Overture's design and supersonic characteristics make Universal's advanced vision system a strong fit for the aircraft. Universal Avionics, a market leader in EFVS, has leveraged years of research and development to develop ClearVision for these unique environments. ClearVision’s Head-Wearable Display system is the ideal solution for Overture’s flight deck.
“ClearVision and Skylens II will play an integral role in providing Overture pilots with unprecedented situational awareness while optimizing their workload,” said Eli Oleksiak, Senior Director, Avionics and Electrical Systems at Boom Supersonic. “Universal Avionics is a pioneer in advanced vision system technology and we look forward to integrating their products into Overture.”
"We are excited to enter into this partnership with Boom Supersonic, bringing years of innovation in Enhanced Flight Vision Systems to Overture,” said Dror Yahav, Chief Executive Officer at Universal Avionics. “Driven by the need for supersonic travel, the unique shape of this aircraft and advanced operations benefit from the full breadth of ClearVision, from the latest generation of Head-Wearable Displays to certified image fusion and augmented reality applications.”
Universal Avionics and Boom Supersonic are demonstrating new partner capabilities at the Farnborough International Airshow on July 22-25, 2024.
